2018 Proposed Party Document Amendments
The following amendments to LPKS Party Documents have been proposed by the Executive Committee (Excomm) of the LPKS and are now available for comment.
Please leave any comments in the comment field at the bottom of this page. Feel free to suggest edits, or to suggest additional amendments to party documents for the Excomm to consider for inclusion in the final proposed amendments for each document.
You are also invited to record your reaction to the suggestions of others using the "Reactions" button under each comment found at the bottom of this document.
This proposal will be available for comment for at least 28 days. After that time, the Excomm will consider all comments and vote on a final set of amendments to the party documents. Those final proposed changes will be available for consideration for 28 days prior to the convention.
At the State Convention, there shall be an opportunity for individuals to speak in favor of or in opposition to the proposed changes to each document. The State Chair shall have the ability to limit the length of these discussions with both those in favor and those in opposition having equal time.
Votes at the State Convention shall be a simple up or down vote with no amendments at the convention. Amendments to each party document has specific requirements for passage by the party membership that can be found in the Paragraph V of the Bylaws found on the party website.
Please read the whole document below. While the first party documents have no proposed changes, the bylaws have proposed changes at the end of the document.
Each section below includes a short statement of why the change is proposed and a copy of the affected section of the bylaws. Text to be removed is struck through, text to be added is in red.
The Purpose of the changes below is to clarify how the Executive Committee may meet using any new technology that be deemed advantageous by the Excom.
Paragraph III, Section 1, Subsection 1G. Meeting
The State Executive Committee shall meet at the call of the State Chair or the request of a majority of the members of the State Executive Committee transmitted by telephone, letter, e-mail, text message, or any other electronic media agreed on by the Executive Committee to the State Secretary.
Paragraph III, Section 1, Subsection 2D. Motion Made Outside of Scheduled Meeting
A motion may be initiated outside of an in-person or telephone meeting, by an e-mail, text message, or any other electronic media agreed on by the Executive Committee, from any member of the State Executive Committee to the State Secretary with a copy to the State Chair. The Secretary shall send out the proposal to the members of the State Executive Committee and others as appropriate.
All of the members of the State Executive Committee may comment on the proposal. Any proposed changes to the proposal shall be sent to the State Secretary who shall publish those proposed changes by e-mail, text message, or any other electronic media agreed on by the Executive Committee. After a reasonable time has been given for comments on any proposal or changes, the State Secretary shall put the question.
