Kansas Emergency Powers Bill

Kansas House Committee to Consider Emergency Powers Bill!
Please Contact the House Committee on Elections and Governmental Organization!

The Kansas House Committee on Elections and Governmental Organization will consider House Bill 2811 on Thursday, March 6 at 3:30 P.M. in Room 784 of the Docking Building in Topeka.

HB2811 would prevent the State of Kansas from confiscating, registering, regulating the lawful sale, possession, transfer, transport and carry of firearms during a state of emergency, such as occurred in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.  This bill will protect Kansans' right to self-defense, even during a declared state of emergency.

Re: Kansas Emergency Powers Bill
Thanks for the info Robert - this one was certainly off my radar. Is anyone planning on testifying? If not - please contact the committee (especially if your Rep is a member).

Re: Kansas Emergency Powers Bill
This is the committee I testified in front of a couple weeks ago.

They are very LP friendly - this is a good committee to testify in front of if you want to get your feet wet!

I did not know about this issue either - Thanks Robert.

Re: Kansas Emergency Powers Bill

The Kansas Concealed Carry website:     http://www.ksccw.com/site/index.php    had it posted there.

As everyone here probably knows, we're got the 2nd Amendment to assure that we get to keep the rest of them. Having what happened in New Orleans after the hurricane under the guise of "emergency powers" would be the easiest way for the Constitution to go right down the drain.
