April 5th 2008 - Multi-State LP convention in Kansas City
Modified By robh on 8/19/2007 2:35:53 PM)
Hi Everyone,

Add this date to your planning calendars now.

April 5th 2008 will be the date of our 2008 state convention.

It will be in the Kansas City area - more details to follow when I get them nailed down. This will be a multi-state convention with the Missouri, Iowa, & Nebraska LP's all planning on being here (and maybe Illinois I have yet to have them be confirmed).

Some of the events:
We are planning a panel of local elected LP'ers (two of the four original invitee's have committed) If they all agree we will have one from Iowa, 2 from Missouri and one from Kansas on this panel. (Our Mike Wilson has agreed to represent the LPKS)

Bob Barr (former congressman and now LNC member) has agreed to be one keynote speaker.

Shane Cory (our national part executive director) has agreed to hold a presentation on "the state of the LP" from a national perspective - we plan a town hall format for this 45 min segment.

We will have a leading (Probably top 5) Presidential candidates forum/debate. We have been able to get C-span here in KC before in the past and we are going to try again for this event as well (at least the Pres forum/debate)

We are working on two other keynote speakers (One probably a dinner speaker)

I want this to be a huge event - 150 to 200 people - we can make that happen with your help!

Plan on $50 to $75 a person to be able to attend all events planned - I am going to keep this as low as possible so these prices may be high - however speakers and lunch/dinners are not cheap. If you need to - start saving some $$ now.

We will have the convention web site up soon (when we are closer to knowing our costs) to buy tickets early.
More details soon!

Thanks

Hi everyone,

Here is a link to the website of the 2008 Kansas LP State convention.

This will be a multi-state conference that will include Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas.

A full convention schedule that will include a LP Presidential candidate debate and a forum with local elected LP'ers from Kansas and Missouri.

The PayPal link IS active and you CAN register for the convention at the "Early bird" rate ($60) now. Please do so because the early revenue is very helpful and our goal is to make this a financially self-sustaining event. Generating revenue now will allow up the ability to put deposits down on  things like A/V equipment, etc. and ensure that we do not run into any problems of getting invoices paid on time.

As you can see, this will be a very affordable convention. The earlier you register...the more affordable it will be.

We are still working on a few more speakers, I'll forward that info once we have them confirmed.

Heartland Libertarian Conference - update
Hi everyone,

I have some exciting news about the Heartland Libertarian Conference
that will take place in Kansas City next April. We have come to a
verbal agreement with a local broadcasting company to have the
Libertarian Presidential candidates' debate broadcast live!

The station ownership must complete one more task to ensure this
happens and they me today that they expect to have that done by the
end of this week. We will, in all probability, cut the check and sign
the contract next week!

The total cost for the broadcast: $600.00. That includes the air time,
live remote and two board operators - one at the debate and one in the
studio. The debate will be broadcast live over one AM station in
Missouri and one AM station in Kansas (both in the KC area - I'll give
you the call letters once the contract is signed). More importantly,
the debate will be broadcast live online via streaming audio on the
station's website.

We will be allowing hundreds, in not a thousand or more, Libertarians
get an extended time to form opinions about our candidates for
President. This will also be an important credibility builder with
other media, potential sponsors and those who might be leaning toward
joining the LP (like Ron Paul supporters).

I will personally donate $100.00 towards the broadcast cost. That
means we only need to raise $500.00 to completely underwrite this
broadcast! We can do that!

Many of you being emailed have not registered for the conference yet.
Please do so as soon as possible. Click here ->
http://www.lpmo.org/heartland2008 <- to register online (or to get the
formto print out and mail in with a check or money order). Do it now
and lock in the "Early Bird Rate" of only $60.00 per person.

If you have already registered: THANK YOU! Your early registration is
what has allowed us to pursue this as well as other needed contracts
and resources to make this event an inspiring, fun and exciting event
that we will all learn from as we enjoy it!

Please consider going back to the website and making a small donation
in addition to your registration. You can now donate $10.00, $25.00,
$50.00 or even $100.00 at the website to help with the convention.

With the holidays upon us, we know that registrations will slow down.
If you know you will be at the convention in Kansas City on April 4th
and 5th, consider signing up NOW. You'll save money and will help us
with the resources needed to put on an event that is worthy of our
party and of our message to the public!

This WILL be an exciting event - be a part of it!
