KANSAS LIBERTARIANS FIELD STRONG SLATE FOR 2008 ELECTION CYCLE - Monday, June 09, 2008
June 11, 2008

Topeka – Hoping to capitalize on voter dissatisfaction with the major political parties, the Libertarian Party of Kansas (LPKS) on Monday filed candidates for a broad variety of state and local offices. State Libertarian Party of Kansas Chairman Rob Hodgkinson said that the number of candidates, while one of the larger slates ever, does not fully reflect the status of the party in Kansas.

“The quality of libertarian candidates in 2008 is unparalleled in our history,” Hodgkinson said. “Across the board, libertarian candidates for this election are informed and articulate at the highest level. What’s more, the views they hold more closely match the sentiments of many Kansans.

If the voters will set aside past perceptions,” Hodgkinson continued, “they will find that they agree with libertarian ideology more often and to a greater degree than they thought.”

The LPKS is the second fastest growing state affiliate in the country. On May 25 the Libertarian Party nominated former Congressman Bob Barr (GA) as its Presidential candidate and Wayne A Root (NV) as its Vice Presidential candidate. They will headline this year’s slate. In addition, Randall Hodgkinson (Topeka) is the U.S. Senate candidate for Kansas.  Media can contact the candidates themselves or by reaching Rob Hodgkinson, Jason Peck, or Patrick Wilbur.
