Welcome to the LPKS Minimize
The Libertarian Party of Kansas (LPKS) is an affiliate of the national Libertarian Party.

The LPKS is dedicated to restoring small government, a free-market economy, civil liberties, freedom from excessive government intrusion in our lives and personal responsibility for our actions.  The LPKS is working to move public policy in this libertarian direction by giving the voters in Kansas a viable third option to the status quo and working to have candidates across the state in local and statewide elections.

We need your help to return our state government to being “for the people" – instead of today’s attitude in Topeka of “against the people”. Help us by changing your voter registration to Libertarian & voting for a Libertarian every time you can.

Join us as a volunteer or as a candidate - It will mean more freedom for you and for all Kansans. You and future generations will be glad you did!

DEFINING LIBERTARIANISM

From American Heritage dictionary:

lib•er•tar•i•an: One who advocates maximizing individual rights and minimizing the role of the government.

Another definition from Sharon Harris, President of the Advocates for Self-Government:

"Libertarianism is, as the name implies, the belief in liberty. Libertarians believe that each person owns his own life and property, and has the right to make his own choices as to how he lives his life - as long as he simply respects the same right of others to do the same."

So, does this mean that libertarians left or right in the political spectrum?
Are libertarians liberal or conservative in the political spectrum?

The answer is ------ YES.

I know, you look at me and ask -- how can that be?

Well, conservatives tend to be libertarian on economic issues; that is, conservatives believe that citizens should have all their economic freedoms; however, their personal behavior should be controlled – for the common good – by the government.

Liberals tend to be libertarian on social issues. That is, Liberals believe that citizens should have all their personal freedoms; however, their economic decisions should be controlled – for the common good – by the government.

The common denominator, the middle ground is libertarianism.  Libertarians believe that citizens should have ALL their constitutionally protected freedoms, All the time. This is a consistent, rational, common sense point of view that transcends all political labeling, especially the narrow  left/right,  liberal/conservative  spectrum  the media misuses so often.

You actually have a better choice than just left or right
You have a better choice than just liberal or conservative
You actually have a better choice than just Democrat or Republican.

The Libertarian Party is the only political party to advocate both personal and economic liberty. Simply put, we’re the only political party who believes you should have the freedom to do what you want with your life and your wallet.

Libertarianism is a combination of liberty (the freedom to live your life in any peaceful way you choose), responsibility (a moral, legal or mental accountability), and tolerance (honoring and respecting the peaceful choices of others).  Live and let live. The golden rule. Isn’t it crazy that going back to the basics is touted as extreme behavior!

While Democrats and Republicans constantly speak of "freedom" and "liberty”, their actions contradict their words.

Libertarians believe in and work toward returning true freedom and liberty to the people of Kansas. This is not done through extreme measures, it’s done with Kansas common sense and a renewed respect for individual rights -- it starts with fewer taxes and smaller government. Libertarians are guided by common sense principles and not by far left or far right ideologies. The Kansas Libertarian Party is comprised of everyday Kansans who share an extraordinary hope for our state.  We work hard, pay our taxes, love our families and serve our state. We are your bus drivers, doctors, secretaries, firefighters, laborers, teachers and executives. We all work together, despite overwhelming odds, to make the state that we love a better place for future generations.

Politicians too frequently forget that their laws and regulations affect real, live human beings.  Libertarians never lose sight of that fact.

In dealing with political issues, libertarians focus on the people involved. Who is having a problem? What is it? What is the government doing already, if anything, and is the government the cause of the problem?

Libertarians use a caring, people centered approach to politics. "Libertarianism is what you probably already believe… Libertarian values are Kansas values.

Libertarianism is the Kansas heritage of liberty, patriotism and honest work to build a future for your family. It's the idea that being free and independent is a great way to live. That you are responsible for your own life, and that you have the right to decide what's best for you.

Explore the Libertarian Party of Kansas. Evaluate these ideas.

The Libertarian Party is open to anyone who has the desire to make Kansas a better place to live.

We hope you will join us in embracing this ideal -- and in taking a stand to personally help bring about a world of liberty, abundance and peace!

IT'S A GREAT TIME TO BE A LIBERTARIAN IN KANSAS!
